Yi Xiong is the Chief China Economist at Deutsche Bank. Prior to joining the bank in 2017, he was an economist at the International Monetary Fund. During his career at the IMF, he focused on China – including at the organization’s Resident Representative Office in China from 2009 to 2010 and assisting China’s G20 Presidency in 2015-16 – as well as a broad range of countries in the Asia Pacific, Europe, and Africa. He also helped design the IMF’s analytical framework for sovereign debt sustainability and debt restructuring. Yi has a Ph.D. in Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree from Peking University in Beijing.
