China has recently taken a significant step towards promoting the exchange of people between China and foreign countries by expanding its visa-free program. On a trial basis, China has decided to implement a visa-free policy for ordinary passport holders from six countries: Austria, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
During the trial period, which spans from March 14 to November 30, 2024, holders of ordinary passports from these six countries will be entitled to enter China without a visa. This visa-free privilege applies to various purposes, including business activities, travel and tourism, visiting relatives and friends, as well as transit through Chinese territory. The duration of stay under this visa-free policy is limited to a maximum of 15 days.
By expanding the scope of visa-free countries, China aims to facilitate smoother and more convenient travel experiences for individuals from Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, and Luxembourg. This initiative aligns with China’s commitment to fostering international exchange and strengthening global connections.
